# GitHub App and repository access

Install IndieLogs, grant repository access, link a project and control the history rebuild.

## Prerequisites

- You need an IndieLogs account and permission to install GitHub Apps in the GitHub account or organization.
- The IndieLogs deployment must have its GitHub App identity, signing key, callback origin and encryption configuration set by its operator.
- The GitHub App must be installed with access to the repository you want to connect. Organization approval may be required.

## Connect a repository

- Start the GitHub App installation from project settings.
- Choose an available repository and link it to the project.
- Confirm the branch and excluded paths. A repository name or path can itself be sensitive; public drafts should not reveal private names.
- Request a history rebuild, then inspect the reconstructed editions before publishing.

## Access and storage

The application stores encrypted provider credentials and source-event metadata required by the pipeline. It does not ingest Git blobs or save repository code. Removing a repository link or revoking the GitHub App prevents further access but does not erase previously published updates.
